About Reviresco

Built on decades of listening.

Reviresco Supports is a one-woman practice grounded in more than two decades of experience in education, behavior consultation, and disability services — and a belief that meaningful change begins with understanding the person first.

Every Reviresco client works directly with me, so support stays personal, collaborative, and grounded in what matters most to the individual and the people who know them best.

My story

Hi, I’m Emily Maxwell.

My career has taken me through classrooms, homes, care teams, leadership meetings, and just about every kind of conversation that happens when people are trying to figure out how to help someone thrive.

I began as a special education teacher, where I learned early that behavior rarely makes sense when viewed in isolation. Understanding a person means looking beyond what they are doing to consider what they may be communicating, what their environment is asking of them, what has worked before, and what they need in order to be successful.

I later worked as a district behavior consultant, supporting students, families, teachers, and school teams with complex behavioral needs. From there, I moved into Utah’s disability services system, eventually serving as Executive Director of a provider organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Those experiences gave me the opportunity to see support from many different perspectives: the individual receiving services, the family trying to advocate for someone they love, the direct-support professional doing difficult work every day, the behavior consultant looking for patterns, and the leadership team trying to make an entire system work better.

Reviresco grew out of all of it.

I wanted to return to the part of this work I love most: getting to know people, asking good questions, figuring out what behavior is telling us, and working alongside individuals, families, and teams to create practical changes that make everyday life better.

What guides me

Connection, compassion, collaboration

These three words are at the heart of Reviresco and the way I approach every person, family, and team I work with.

Connection

Meaningful change starts with relationship. Before I can understand behavior, I need to understand the person — what matters to them, what brings them joy, what makes life harder, and what helps them feel safe and successful.

Connection has been at the center of my professional work for more than two decades, and it is also at the heart of my work with horses. Horses have taught me, over and over, the value of slowing down, paying attention, communicating clearly, and creating enough safety for trust to develop.

Reviresco brings those worlds together. Alongside behavior and family consultation, I offer experiential horse sessions designed to create opportunities for connection, self-awareness, communication, confidence, and growth.

These sessions are not psychotherapy or mental health treatment. They are another way to explore some of the same principles that guide all of my work: relationship first, curiosity over judgment, and meaningful change that grows from connection.

Whether we’re sitting around a kitchen table, meeting with a support team, or standing beside a horse, people come first.

Compassion

Behavior happens for a reason, even when that reason isn’t immediately clear.

I try to approach difficult behavior with curiosity rather than judgment: Why might this make sense for this person? What need could be met by this behavior? What is the environment contributing? What might we be missing?

Everyone deserves dignity, patience, and the opportunity to be understood as a whole person — not reduced to a diagnosis, behavior, or case number.

Collaboration

The people who live and work alongside an individual carry knowledge that matters.

My job isn’t to arrive with all the answers. It’s to bring behavioral expertise to the table, listen carefully to the people who know the individual best, and work together to find strategies that are practical enough to use in real life.

The best plans aren’t simply well written. They’re understood, supported, and workable for the people who actually have to live them.

Why “Reviresco”?

re·vi·res·co

Latin

“I grow strong again.” “I revive.” “I grow green again.”

I chose the name Reviresco because it captures what I hope this work can make possible.

Growth doesn’t always mean becoming someone new.

Sometimes it means creating the conditions that allow what’s already there to emerge again — strength, connection, confidence, possibility.

A plant that begins growing green again hasn’t become a different plant. Something has shifted. It has access to what it needs to grow.

I think people can be like that, too.

When behavior has become difficult, relationships are strained, or a family or support team feels stuck, the goal isn’t to “fix” a person. It’s to understand what’s happening, identify what might need to change, build on existing strengths, and create conditions in which everyone involved has a better chance to thrive.

That’s what I want Reviresco to offer: thoughtful, compassionate support that helps people, families, and teams find their way forward — and, perhaps, grow green again.
